Global tourism has grown rapidly, making it among today's top income-generating industries for any country including the Philippines. Tourism has been identified as a major economic booster and a prime employer of professionals and new graduates alike. (the) lack of qualified applicants to fit a certain job description, not the lack of jobs, is what ails the labor sector in the country..." -2006 National Manpower Summit (DOLE and UNDP) the goal is not only to train but also to guide, counsel and help young people to develop or upgrade their work skills and find jobs most suited to their situations and aptitudes the fact is the population is generally well educated; a critical problem is the mismatch between worker skills and company needs -TESDA
The Asian School of Hospitality Arts was founded because of the demands of the industry. The Asian School of Hospitality Arts or ASHA is dedicated in helping fresh graduates and industry practitioners to become competent workers, the goal of ASHA is to be able to reach out to people who need good quality training and education for a job in the hospitality industry.
It is no secret that the hospitality industry remains to be one of the strongest income-generating industries in any country. As countries focus on tourism, jobs in the hospitality industry are becoming more in demand. This high demand is coupled with the desire of the industry to level their standards to nothing but the best. It can be said that the standards in the hospitality industry has gotten better and more professional.
These higher standards in the industry are the pivotal point for the birth of the Asian School of Hospitality Arts. ASHA understands that the Filipinos have a natural gift for hospitality thus making this the tenet of their teaching. While hospitality may come very naturally for Pinoys, ASHA believes that this can be further sharpened through industry immersion and globally tested methods of teaching. ASHA recognizes that the international demands must be met and that the industry insists more than just possessing the right attitude but that those in the industry must also possess the right skills.
