The ASIAN SCHOOL OF HOSPITALITY ARTS (ASHA) aims to enhance the innate Filipino hospitality by giving its students the necessary skills for the hospitality industry, both here and abroad. Asha opened recently its first campus on Kamias Road, Quezon City. “Asha puts a premium on hands-on training. With our established industry partners, our students are assured they are not only trained by the best, but will be exposed to the best that the industry offers,” said Angie Blanco, Asha school director. Asha has partnered with some of the best in the industry such as the Cravings Group. Graduates undergo apprenticeship with pay with these partners. Blanco said students earned and learned at the same time and those at the top could easily land jobs with the school’s hotels and restaurant partners. She said the school also had a job assistance program. Recent graduates were going to Singapore for a six-month training with pay. Asha offers a One Year Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Operation and a One Year Diploma in Hospitality Management. Blanco said fast-track courses were also offered that could get graduates jobs as professional cooks, barista and butlers, among others., Blanco, a graduate of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, has over 10 years of experience in hotel and restaurant operations. She was human resource and training director for a five-star hotel in Dubai and resident manager of Best Western Hotel La Corona Manila. She also taught in several schools.
