| ASHA: Number 1 choice partner of employment agencies |
|
The Asian School of Hospitality Arts (ASHA) continues to strengthen its status in the hospitality industry with its graduates now being the leading choice among employment agencies and for on-the-job (OJT) programs of various companies in related fields.
ASHA attributes this achievement to the hands-on and skills training they implement for students in a "laboratory" setting, which are actual venues such as the front desk, kitchen, guest rooms, dining area, bar of a restaurant and not simulated in a classroom. This is in order for students to learn more about the rudiments of hospitality management in a "real world" setting. These labs are part of the hotel, Champ Hostel and Seven Suites Hotel Observatory. "Our edge over other training schools is ASHA's handing out of certificates for every module and OJT they finish, which they can then use when looking for employment. We offer a modular type of program which enables a student to take as many modules as they need," school director, Ms.Angie Blanco said. He added the school has a "ladderized" program that allows students taking up a three-month course to extend this into a one- or two-year courses. On the other hand, the school itself is dedicated to providing job assistance to students, via manpower agency partners and affiliates who are always confident to refer graduates from ASHA for local or overseas employment. Students don't even need to look for OJT venues since the OJT program is conducted on-site with ASHA's affiliates such as Cravings, The Coffee Beanery, Champ Hostel, Seven Suites, C3 Events Place and Restaurant and Orange Place Hotel. This is another advantage of ASHA over other Tesda-accredited schools in hospitality management. "During these OJT programs, ASHA students receive such benefits as monetary allowances, training in real-life situations and even opportunities to get training abroad. These programs further prepare students for the real world, while practicing important work ethics and values which are needed in the hospitality industry," she added. ASHA offers a wide range of courses, including a short three-month course (Certificate of Competency), to one-year (Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Operations) and two-year courses. The two-year course already entitles a graduate to a Diploma in Hospitality Management — an added advantage for those seeking to work in a shorter amount of time. The school can also formulate a custom-fit package of training programs for other institutions requiring training for the following fields: Personality development, sanitation and safety standards, stewarding and waste management, commercial cookery, food and beverage service, bar operations, banquet operations, front office operations, housekeeping, baking and pastry and barista training. |
